Casual Meeting at a garment store turns a stranger into family

In 1997, Amit was assisting his uncle who owned a cloth store at Vardaan Market.

Amit’s modus operandi then was to ask customers at the store whether they, or someone they knew, needed to buy or sell a house.

Once a Punjabi gentleman said yes in response to Amit’s persistent questioning. It took Amit some time to extract the gentlemen’s almost reluctant, yes.

The gentleman wanted to move out of his current home. He had a couple of options that he liked. But, he was extremely indecisive.

Somehow, he lacked the confidence to proceed with the purchase. The deal was large.

Amit took his time to understand the family needs and get their inputs into the equation. Then he helped the gentleman seal the deal with everyone on board.

Amit is still in touch with the gentleman. And the Punjabi family is now his family.

Chance Encounter in a bus leads to lifelong friendship.

In the initial years of his real estate business, Amit used the mini-bus to travel in Kolkata. On one such journey, he met an interior designer by chance.

He struck up a conversation. Soon, one thing led to another. Knowing that Amit was a realtor, the designer related the story of a gentleman he knew in North Calcutta.

The Designer’s acquaintance was looking to resettle for over a year but found no property that pleased him.

Amit was curious, so he visited the acquaintance.

The acquaintance’s problem was that he wasn’t clear about his needs. He just didn’t know what he wanted.

So Amit decided to reframe the problem. He helped the customer analyze his requirements. He sat down with his family and patiently spoke to them. He uncovered their needs and pains.

Amit then activated his network. In just 4 months, Amit successfully got the gentleman and his family resettled into their new home.

Since then said gentleman has bought 10 more properties and referred 15+ customers to Amit.
